There are days when the beauty of flight carries weight we cannot see. Today is one of those days.
My heart goes out to the families, friends, and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives in the recent Air India crash. No words will ever fully hold the depth of that loss, but we grieve alongside you, and hold space for your unimaginable sorrow.
As a former flight attendant and now a psychotherapist, I know that every time we step onboard, we carry more than passengers — we carry human stories. Hopes. Dreams. Lifetimes of love, and lives in motion.
To my fellow crew — pilots and flight attendants — your courage, your grace, and your professionalism in the face of the unthinkable will never be forgotten. We know what it means to close the aircraft door, to take on the responsibility that few outside our world truly understand. You are, and always will be, part of a sacred family of aviation professionals who serve with both duty and heart.
For those who are called to this world — whether you’re flying now or still dreaming of the sky — may this tragedy remind us of the depth of the responsibility we carry. Not to live in fear, but to live in purpose. Every briefing, every checklist, every moment of training matters — because we don’t simply fly aircraft. We hold lives.
May those who were lost find eternal blue skies above.
May their memory stay with us in every flight, every landing, and every breath we take as we continue to rise.
With deep respect,
Suhadee Henriquez, LCSW
